A Study on Sagittal Depth Measurement of Soft Contact Lenses
Kim Hyun-Il

Abstract
Purpose : To compare the difference in sagittal depth between soft contact lenses of 15 products from 4 manufacturers sold in Korea and to find out whether the lenses are relatively steep or flat.

Methods : The sagittal depth of soft contact lenses was measured through photography using a rectangular petri dish made of polystyrene containing saline and a reference body with a reference line. The contact lenses used were 15 commercially available soft contact lenses with -3.00 D.

Results : The measured sagittal depth was 3.68¡¾0.16 mm, showing a range of 3.42 to 3.96 mm. The calculated sagittal depth was 3.67¡¾0.15mm, and there was a relatively large difference in some lenses. The calculated base curve for each measured sagittal depth was 8.58¡¾0.16 mm, and the base curve suggested by the manufacturer was 8.59+0.12 mm. There was a relatively large difference in some lenses.

Conclusion : The difference in sagittal depth of 15 soft contact lens products sold in Korea could be compared, and additional information on whether the lenses were relatively steep or flat could be obtained through the measured sagittal depth and the calculated base curve.
